Hearing Loops are systems for helping people hear, transmitting audio by magnetic field from an installed loop to a users hearing aid or receiver.
Loops are one form of assistive listening technology, and one that is being rapidly adopted by facilities and people with hearing loss around the world. Typically a hearing aid user already has a telecoil receiver in their hearing aid, allowing them to get full benefit from their hearing aids, while not requiring a receiver to be provided by the venue. This brings huge benefits for both the users and the service providers. As legislation and awareness improve, adoption of loop technology is increasing fast.
The IHLMA is an association of the major manufacturers of audio induction loop equipment, aiming to support good quality loop installations around the world. The association can provide support and guidance to anyone interested in Hearing Loop systems. The association also requires that its members abide by our Code of Conduct.
IHLMA has produced a Good Practice Guide for those interested in specifying or installing Hearing Loop Systems. Click below for the PDF.
